Review: Aurora Video VCD / SVCD / DVD Converter & Creator is an application suite that bundles four modules for converting video clips and burning VCD, SVCD and DVD movies. It is pretty simple to work with it. The interface of the program is user-friendly, so you shouldn have any problems figuring out the layout. Video files can be imported into the workspace using only the file browser, since drag and drop is not supported. You can add as many videos as you want, as batch processing is supported. The video converter supports the MPG, MPEG, AVI, WMV, ASF, DAT, VOB, RM, RMVB and MOV formats for the input, along with WMV, AVI (DivX, XviD) and MPEG1/2 (VCD-PAL/NTSC, SVCD-PAL/NTSC, DVD-PAL/NTC, or custom) for the output, and lets you select a preferred output profile or configure settings regarding the size, bit rate, frame rate and aspect ratio. The VCD and SVCD building modules have pretty limited options, as you can select the disc type and arrange videos up and down in the list, while the DVD creator includes a few configurable settings (e.g. audio codec, zoom destination DVD, temporary directory) and lets you create DVD menus. Aurora Video VCD / SVCD / DVD Converter & Creator is surprisingly low on the system resources, using a minimal amount of CPU and RAM. It has a good response time and carries out a conversion and burning task rapidly. No error dialogs have been displayed in our testing, and the program did not hang or crash. On the downside, Aurora Video VCD / SVCD / DVD Converter & Creator has not been updated for a very long time.
